WEEK 2: MARCH 6-12

God Has Come for His People

Luke 7:11-17 captures another Resurrection story for our focus this week. When Jesus raises people from the dead, sometimes we can miss some of the nuance from the story. It makes sense, though, what else is there to talk about? Jesus just told a dead person to not be dead anymore. However, look closer in this text; the response from the people after watching this resurrection is to acknowledge that surely “God has come for His people.” Yes, God has come for us and I am sure we all have unique experiences of that truth. As you are encouraged by this week’s devotionals, be thinking about Luke 7 and how this story challenges you!

MARCH 10
Is God Really There?
By Martha Dixon

When I was 21, my younger brother was diagnosed with cancer of the arm. Our family was devastated, and we had many doubts and questions for God. However, we knew that our God is a God who will never leave or forsake us and that He comes to give life abundantly.

As we pressed into God, I can only describe our experience as miraculous. My brother’s cancer went from possible metastasis to the lungs to 100% killed with the chemotherapy, something the oncologist had never seen before in her years of practice. My brother survived several severe infections, the football team raised almost the exact amount of money that was needed for the deductible, many meals and needs were provided, and my brother finished the treatments with no long term damage of the heart or kidneys and with more arm mobility than expected.

Even more important was that the nearness and love of God was tangible and real throughout the whole experience. Our family came out of this experience changed, knowing that we love and serve a God who is ever present, knowing and providing for our needs before we knew what our needs were; a God that freely shares His power, provision, freedom, joy, hope, peace, love, and presence with us. My prayer for you this week is that you may know more of this God who will never leave or forsake you and came to give us abundant life.

Deuteronomy 31:8, The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.

John 10:10: I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

How are you experiencing God’s presence this week?

What is getting in the way of following God in your life?
