Prayer Points

Prayer Points for the week of November 27th, 2022

  • Holy Jesus, we come to the Advent season with the expectation that You will meet us in our longing and that You will reveal Your Emmanuel-presence to us.  Isaiah 11:1-3
  • Jesus Messiah, we pray that the Advent workshop would serve to honor You and bring joy and hope through the making of and giving of gifts. 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20
  • Heavenly Father, we pray that our pastors will continue to lead us with a shepherd’s heart and that they will always speak the truth in love.  1 Peter 5:2; Ephesians 4:15
  • Most Holy God, we pray for discernment for those selecting God’s hand-picked persons for all leadership positions that need to be filled.  Acts 6:3,5,8
  • Father, lead us into stewardship commitments that reflect our growing trust and dependence on You for our provision.  Mark 12:41-44
Announcements
  • To pair with our Advent Sermon Series, we have a daily devotional book that we encourage you to read together as a family. Each day in December, there is a short reading with discussion questions to share. This book reminds us of the family story of God that we are all rooted in from Genesis to Revelation. Devotional books are at the Welcome Desk in the Commons for a suggested donation of $5 on Sunday mornings.

  • Advent Workshop will take place Sunday, December 4th. Meet in the sanctuary at 5:00pm for a Christmas story with balloons. We will then move into the commons for crafting, cookie decorating, and pizza for $1 a slice. Last but not least, we will have our mission room open for your family to serve together, which is always a highlight of the evening. This fun family event is open to all ages!

  • Christmas can be challenging for many of us, especially if we’ve lost loved ones. Jesus is the one who “heals the brokenhearted.” On Sunday, December 11th, at 6:00pm, we will have a “blue Christmas” healing and prayer service specifically designed for those who need that healing touch of Jesus in our hearts.

  • Calling all the women of KUMC! We’re gathering together to Mix and Mingle with a little Jingle. Join us on Wednesday, December 14th at 6:00pm in the Vine space for fellowship, dessert, and some Christmas joy with Shawn Palmer. Please register online and let us know if you are bringing a dessert or need childcare, but most of all, we want to see you there! As an act of service, bring a feminine hygiene product to benefit the Society of St. Stephen Ministry.

  • On December 18th at 9:30 and 11:00am, make plans to join us in traditional worship for the Chancel Choir’s special Christmas event. With music by composer Heather Sorenson and featuring many very familiar Christmas carols, it will be a time of joyous carol singing with an orchestra that will truly prepare your hearts for the coming of the Christ Child. It’s something you won’t want to miss! To view the rest of our upcoming Christmas celebrations and our Christmas Eve schedule, please visit kingwoodumc.org/christmas
